FRA Director Michael O’Flaherty and the Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić held wide-ranging talks on 10 June in Vienna.

They exchanged views on the importance of respecting fundamental rights standards in artificial intelligence.

They also addressed protecting the rights of vulnerable people, especially in the light of the pandemic as well as the needs of unaccompanied migrant children.

They agreed on further developing cooperation for the European Union Fundamental Rights Information System (EFRIS).

They also discussed further cooperation on social rights, in view of the forthcoming Agency’s Fundamental Rights Report 2022 focus on social rights and equality.

The Council of Europe Secretary General accepted an invitation to be a keynote speaker at October’s Fundamental Rights Forum 2021.

Both expressed the highest appreciation of the good cooperation between FRA and Council of Europe.
