FRA gave an online presentation to a Center for the Study of Democracy roundtable on ‘Fundamental Rights, Artificial Intelligence and EU Law: Safeguards and Challenges’. The event was organised in the framework of the FAIR project, which aims to raise awareness about the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.
On 20 June, FRA hosted a meeting of fundamental rights officers from the EU Agency for Asylum (EUAA), Frontex, and Europol. They are an internal fundamental rights protection mechanism that EU agencies with operational activities which impact on people’s rights have set up as a safeguard to protect and promote the respect for fundamental rights in their activities.
FRA was a speaker during a panel on the EU’s proposed new return regulation and the concept of ‘return hubs’ at the 25th Berlin Symposium on Refugee Protection. It focused on fundamental rights issues and limitations.
FRA met with national statutory bodies from EU Member states on 20 and 27 June. These included National Human Rights Institutions, Equality Bodies and Ombuds institutions.
From 23 to 26 June, FRA attended meetings of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). It presented FRA’s priorities in the area of combating antisemitism, including in the area of Holocaust education and remembrance.
FRA took part in the Annual Conference of the European Partnership for Democracy on ‘Rebooting Democracy, Lessons from the Past, Code for the Future’.
FRA attended a meeting of the Working Group on the Implementation of the EU Strategy on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life which took place from 17 to 18 June in Gdansk.
FRA gave a presentation at the event ‘The Long Shadow of Antisemitism – Finland and Europe without Antisemitism’ on 12 June. FRA spoke about its work on antisemitism and its latest survey findings.
On 17 June, the Advisory Board of the Independent Border Monitoring Mechanism of Croatia met in Zagreb. They discussed the monitoring mechanism’s last periodic work report that covering the first five months of 2025.
FRA’s Director carried out a country visit to Lithuania from 9 to 11 June. She met national authorities and key fundamental rights actors.
