Local social cohesion for migrant children and young people

The Agency emphasised the need to integrate young refugees and migrants into society during a panel debate at the 5th Act.Now International Mayors’ Conference in Vienna.

The event, entitled ‘Shaping the future – Social cohesion in our cities’ ran from 29 to 30 January.

Based on FRA’s forthcoming report on the impact of migration on local communities, the Agency spoke about the role of local communities in helping integration, underlining the need for coordination among those responsible for child protection. Promising practices were highlighted at the event, and some young asylum seekers presented their experiences.
