Transposing EU Directives on Equality Bodies’ Standards

On 10 February, FRA took part in the High-Level Conference on the Transposition of the EU Directives on Standards for Equality Bodies, organised in Nicosia under the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The event brought together EU institutions, national equality bodies, civil society and academics to take stock of implementation efforts and remaining challenges.

FRA underlined how monitoring the new Directives requires a human rights-based approach focused on independence, resources, accessibility, participation and remedies, supported by a common EU indicator set.

FRA highlighted its collaborative work with the European Commission, EIGE and Equinet on developing shared indicators and providing analytical baselines from its EU-wide surveys. These tools support Member States in building monitoring systems that are transparent, rights-compliant and trusted by the public.
