The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has applied across the European Union (EU) since 25 May 2018. One year on, this paper looks at how the new regulation has affected the daily work of civil society organisations (CSOs).
Algorithms used in machine learning systems and artificial intelligence (AI) can only be as good as the data used for their development. High quality data are essential for high quality algorithms. Yet, the call for high quality data in discussions around AI often remains without any further specifications and guidance as to what this actually means.
How much progress can we expect in a decade? Various rights-related instruments had been in place for 10 years in 2018, prompting both sobering and encouraging reflection on this question.

Στην Έκθεση για τα Θεμελιώδη Δικαιώματα 2019 του FRA εξετάζονται οι σημαντικότερες εξελίξεις στον τομέα και προσδιορίζονται όχι μόνο τα επιτεύγματα, αλλά και τα ζητήματα που εξακολουθούν να προκαλούν ανησυχία. Στην παρούσα δημοσίευση παρουσιάζονται οι γνώμες του FRA σχετικά με τις κυριότερες εξελίξεις στους εξεταζόμενους θεματικούς τομείς και συνοπτική τεκμηρίωση των γνωμών αυτών.
Ο παρών οδηγός εξηγεί τι είναι η κατάρτιση προφίλ, τα νομικά πλαίσια που τη διέπουν και τον λόγο για τον οποίο η νόμιμη κατάρτιση προφίλ δεν είναι μόνο απαραίτητη για τη συμμόρφωση με τα θεμελιώδη δικαιώματα, αλλά και καίριας σημασίας για την αποτελεσματική αστυνόμευση και διαχείριση των συνόρων. Ο οδηγός παρέχει επίσης πρακτικές οδηγίες σχετικά με τρόπους αποφυγής της παράνομης κατάρτισης προφίλ στο πλαίσιο αστυνομικών επιχειρήσεων και επι-χειρήσεων διαχείρισης των συνόρων.
