Key findings

The author of this report analyses the presence and nature of racism acts and discrimination regarding migrant's access to basic needs (housing, education, health, ...) in Luxembourg. Chapter 5 focuses on Islamophobia. The main real and perceived discrimination acts are related to the disrespect of women and/or the wearing of the veil. In regard to Islamophobia, the author does not mention hate speech comments on social media networks and media discussion forums. However, she refers to comments about Qatari investments in Luxembourg, where critics of authoritarian regimes seem to hide hate speech against Muslims and/or Islamophobia.

Methodology (Qualitative/Quantitative and exact type used, questionnaires etc)

The results of this report are based on qualitative field research (interviews with representatives of associations, governmental and non-governmental parties, NGO's and migrants themselves) and on information gathered in official sources (statistics, reports) and national newspapers.
