The system allows police officers to mark a case as hate crime by ticking one of three boxes: “hate – religion, race, ethnicity”; “hate – sexual orientation/identity”; “hate – other”. In addition, searches were performed in the system for cases with “hate motive” and using key words, such as “Africa”.
