Key findings

The monitoring report results indicate that narratives associated with hate speech were also directed against migrants, often in connection with anti-Muslim expressions. These attitudes most commonly took the form of stereotyping and inciting fear or threat. These attitudes were very often linked to anti-EU narratives. Approximately 30.4% of posts related to Islam portrayed Muslims as a security threat. In 28.6% of cases, it was negative stereotyping. Approximately 1.7% of such posts contained serious hate speech and calls for violence.
