Description
The council enhances the ombudsperson’s cooperation with civil society, the academic community and the media.
It is an advisory body that considers and proposes strategic guidelines on promoting human rights and freedoms, ensures continuous cooperation in this area between the ombudsperson, civil society, the academic community and the media, and considers other issues of importance for the work of the ombudsperson in this area.
Members of the council meet at least twice a year. The meetings are an opportunity for civil-society organisations and academic representatives to discuss the ombudsperson’s annual reports and recommendations to public bodies, and also for them to propose topics and issues to be covered by the ombudsperson’s thematic reports and analysis. Council members cooperate bilaterally with the ombudsperson on their human rights promotion activities and take part in activities organised by the ombudsperson.
