| Germany | Coordination between federal government commissioners and federal commissioners |
|
Federal commissioners and federal government commissioners with similar competencies often coordinate their activities. For example, in January 2024, several commissioners published a joint declaration on the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of National Socialism. The commissioners involved included the Federal Government Commissioner for Jewish Life in Germany and the Fight against Antisemitism, the Federal Government Commissioner against Antiziganism, the Federal Government Commissioner for Anti-racism, the Independent Federal Commissioner for Anti-discrimination, the Federal Government Commissioner for the Acceptance of Sexual and Gender Diversity and the Federal Government Commissioner for Matters Relating to Persons with Disabilities. In addition, the Federal Anti-discrimination Agency’s report to the German Bundestag is prepared in collaboration with the relevant federal government commissioners and Bundestag commissioners. The agency and the commissioners, either jointly or independently, prepare sections of the report and recommendations based on the report’s findings. These are intended for legislators, federal states, local authorities, state institutions and anti-discrimination advice centres. |
