Netherlands Civil Movements Fund
  • Civil-society organisations: DOEN Foundation and Porticus
  • Democracy and Media Foundation
The Civil Movements Fundis an initiative of the Democracy and Media Foundation (a funding organisation that supports media initiatives). It was set up in collaboration with two civil-society organisations (the DOEN Foundation and Porticus). This fund provides support to groups of citizens who work towards structural social change through collective action for a period of three years (2024–2026).

Other goals include experimenting with an inclusive decision-making process and exploring the impact of support and ways of working and sharing these lessons with the wider philanthropic sector. The fund offers several types of funding: core funding for experienced groups; project funding for training, strategy and exchange; and, to a limited extent, action funding for underfunded regions, themes and groups. The approach of the Civil Movements Fund is inclusive and proactive. This means that it actively seeks out groups that may be eligible for support, with a particular focus on underserved regions, themes and groups.
