| Poland | Congresses of Civil Rights |
The Congresses of Civil Rights (Kongresy Praw Obywatelskich) were held annually between 2017 and 2019 under the direction of the seventh Commissioner for Human Rights, Professor Adam Bodnar. The congresses were intended to be a platform for debate and the exchange of information between members of civil society in Poland. They were moderated by the Commissioner for Human Rights, with experts leading individual panel discussions. The congresses were an important opportunity for participants to meet people with different experiences and views from different generations and parts of the country. Participants discussed specific issues and developed opinions and recommendations. In 2021, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights published the recommendations compiled from all three congresses. |

| Poland | Cooperation between the Commissioner for Human Rights and civil-society organisations |
The law requires the Commissioner for Human Rights to cooperate with civic movements and voluntary associations and foundations that protect human and civil liberties and rights. Within the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights there is a Centre for Community Projects (Centrum Projektów Społecznych), which aims to involve civil society in the implementation of the commissioner’s mission and tasks. The Centre for Community Projects works with social partners (including non-governmental organisations and universities) and the office’s units and organisational units. An example of this type of cooperation made permanent is the expert committees (komisje ekspertów) that support the Commissioner for Human Rights in their work. |
