  • It is a proposing, advisory and consultative government body tasked with monitoring the implementation of human rights in Hungary.

Structured cooperation with partners at national level

  • To improve interactions between statuary human rights bodies, civil-society actors and the executive branch, the working group’s meetings are attended by representatives of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights and the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

Structured cooperation with partners at international and EU level

  • Monitors the implementation of recommendations made by the UN, the United Nations Human Rights Council and the Universal Periodic Review Working Group in relation to Hungary.
  • Reviews and monitors the enforcement of human rights conventions and agreements (adopted within the UN, the Council of Europe or the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) to which Hungary is a signing party. It also reviews and monitors the obligations arising from Hungary’s EU membership.
