  • Informs patients and healthcare professionals about cross-border care and patients’ rights and legal options.
  • Collaborates with other EU contact points.
  • Ensures Hungarian healthcare is compliant with national laws
  • Develops recommendations, guidelines and training to support rights protection and legal awareness in the fields of health, social welfare and child welfare.

  • Cooperates with a number of ministries and partner organisations, including the following:
  • National Public Health Center (Nemzeti Népegészségügyi és Gyógyszerészeti Központ),
  • National Directorate-General for Hospitals (Országos Kórház Főigazgatóság),
  • National Health Insurance Fund of Hungary (Nemzeti Egészségbiztosítási Alapkezelő),
  • National Directorate-General for Social Affairs and Child Protection (Szociális és Gyermekvédelmi Főigazgatóság),
  • Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights (Alapvető Jogok Biztosának Hivatala).

Structured cooperation with partners at international and EU level

  • Member of the national contact point communities established under Directive 2011/24/EU, and thus it is in contact with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety’s Cross-border Healthcare Expert Group
