Functions

  • Has played an important role for the past 15 years in monitoring the government’s disability policy and strategies.
  • Members are appointed for a three-year term by the Minister of State for Disability. The DSG is in its sixth term (2022–2024) at the time of writing.
  • Members of the current DSG are individuals appointed in a personal capacity or persons appointed to represent an organisation.

  • Attends meetings of the National Disability Inclusion Strategy Steering Group, which is chaired by theMinister of State for Disabilityand attended by officials from government departments.
  • Brings its expertise and experience to help the steering group monitor the implementation of the strategy.
  • Provides a report to the steering group at each meeting addressing the delivery of the strategy and other relevant matters.
