Human rights capacity support

• Expert advisory support is available. There is also a practice of engaging experts in the field of human rights, usually to participate in activities such as public hearings, conferences and round-table discussions.

Functions

• The committee reviews laws and issues related to human rights, child rights, national minorities and interethnic relations, and freedom of religion. It also cooperates with national minority councils and monitors gender equality by assessing laws, public policies and government actions.

Specific mandates

Structured cooperation with partners at national level

There is cooperation with the government on the basis of the powers of the National Assembly. The committee cooperates with the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue by reviewing quarterly reports on the work of the ministry (as prescribed in the rules of procedure of the National Assembly).

Structured cooperation with partners at international and EU level

• Cooperation is not regulated by any formal act. However, the committee cooperates with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe mission to Serbia, the parliamentary committees for human rights in the region, UN Women, the Council of Europe and the United Nations Development Programme.
