Human rights capacity support

Functions

• Implement national objectives locally, with responsibilities in the areas of human rights, gender equality, children’s rights, minority policy and public health.
• Support municipalities, promote inclusion and oversee specific tasks, including violence prevention, minority rights and disability policy.

Structured cooperation with partners at national level

• Regular collaboration with municipalities, regions and government agencies.
• Structured cooperation with civil society in regional networks and projects.
• Dialogue with national actors on human rights, minority rights policy, gender equality and disability rights.
• Participation in interagency coordination and consultation platforms.

Structured cooperation with partners at international and EU level

• Receive invitations via ministries to European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) events.
• Translated FRA’s practical guidance on human rights cities in the EU.
• Some boards have international exchanges on gender equality and crime prevention.
• Boards in the Barents area have regular international discussions focusing on gender equality.
