Functions
- Considers petitions or applications relating to individual cases and refers them to the competent authorities.
- Informs the competent working bodies of the National Assembly about phenomena arising from the application of laws and proposes appropriate measures for the effective realisation of the rights, duties and legal interests of citizens.
- Monitors and studies the realisation of human rights and fundamental freedoms and conducts initiatives for and makes recommendations to state authorities and other legal entities.
- Monitors and studies issues related to the implementation of the equal opportunities policy and the implementation of the equal inclusion of women and men in all areas of social life and work.
- Monitors the implementation of Slovenia’s international obligations relating to human rights and fundamental freedoms.
- Examines regular annual and special ombudsman reports and reports of other bodies reporting to the National Assembly, insofar as they relate to the implementation and realisation of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
- Examines proposals for laws and other acts relating to human rights and fundamental freedoms and ensuring equal opportunities.
