- The division coordinates gender equality policy. It proposes, recommends, implements and promotes programmes and measures to promote equality between women and men. It provides expert support to ministries and local authorities in incorporating gender mainstreaming into their policies and actions. The division prepares the national programme for equal opportunities for women and men, reports and analyses, and carries out awareness-raising campaigns.

- The division employs the national mechanism that connects and coordinates the executive branch of government. It has adopted a resolution on the national programme for equal opportunities for women and men. It defines specific actions to achieve the objectives in the periodic plans. It also receives reports on the implementation of activities from the ministries and government departments and draws up reports for the government on the measures and activities implemented.
Structured cooperation with partners at international and EU level
- The division provides national data and indicators for publication in the periodic statistical publication and monitors EU indicators on ensuring equal opportunities for women. For the preparation of this publication, the ministry has appointed a representative of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia to the European Commission’s group of statistical correspondents.
