This section provides an overview of national human rights structures across various governance levels, including public authorities, parliamentary committees, government agencies, and civil society. Some, like equality bodies and data protection authorities, are mandated by EU law, while others address EU fundamental rights when required by legislation. The roles and structures of these national bodies continue to change over time.
Act No 308/1993 Coll. on the Council of the Government of the Slovak Republic for Human Rights, National Minorities and Gender Equality, which regulates its composition, jurisdiction, tasks and activities.
The Council of the Government of the Slovak Republic for Human Rights and Gender Equality is also governed by Government Resolution No 180/2021, which regulates its structure and functioning.
