The conference will discuss existing legal frameworks for tackling the issue. It will examine whether a legally binding definition of hate speech is possible or desirable, and whether politicians are able to overcome party differences to unite against the use of hate speech. The role of civil society groups, victims’ associations, and the media in combating hate speech will also be debated, as well as the challenges technological advances such as the internet bring in this regard.

The conference will be broadcast live from 14.00. For more information see the event page.
