The Frontex Consultative Forum, which FRA has chaired since it was established in October 2012, will hold its next meeting on 21-23 October in Warsaw, where the new chairs for the upcoming term will be elected.
FRA will continue to play an active role by taking the lead in the Consultative Forum’s work concerning return monitoring. A major achievement for the Forum included establishing a code of conduct for joint return operations, which foresees monitoring and other fundamental rights safeguards. The Consultative Forum’s first annual activity report, which will be presented at the meeting, outlines all Forum activities, their impact and the challenges faced. A novelty of the upcoming meeting will be a dedicated session for exchange with Forum participants the European Ombudsman’s office and European Commission representatives.
The key aim of the forum is the provision of strategic advice which is operable. It will also establish a functioning relationship between the Consultative Forum’s members, the Frontex senior management and the Frontex Management Board.
