Applying the EU’s fundamental rights Charter nationally

On 19 February in Amsterdam, FRA will give a presentation at a seminar organised by the Dutch EU Presidency on the national policy application of the EU Charter of fundamental Rights.

The meeting has been organised to strengthen the application of the Charter in the EU Member States. Both the FRA Director and the EU's Justice Commissioner Věra Jourová will deliver speeches at the event. It will be platform for Member States to exchange information and views on the challenges they have faced in applying the Charter and the instruments they have used. Different experiences will be presented during the seminar with the aim of identifying whether or not certain practices are successful, and why. The outcomes of the seminar will then be followed up at the meeting of the Council Working Group on Fundamental Rights in Brussels, so they can be part of the annual conclusions of the Justice and Home Affairs Council on the application of the Charter.
