On 9 May in Athens, FRA will take part in a workshop to mark the fifth anniversary of the Greek Asylum Service.
During the workshop, the FRA Director will moderate a panel on the implementation of the safe third country concept. The workshop will focus on the most recent European policy and legal developments in the field of migration and asylum. The Greek Asylum Service was established in 2011. It was Greece’s first specialist asylum body competent to adjudicate on applications for international protection. Faced with large numbers of arrivals the body currently has to deal with many challenges. FRA cooperates closely with the Greek Asylum Service as it has recently deployed experts to Greece to support Frontex, EASO and other EU actors on the ground.
