FRA will take part in the launch of the EU High Level Group on combating racism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance, which will take place on 14 June in Brussels.
The High Level Group will bring together representatives of Member States, civil society organisations, and community organisations, as well as relevant EU agencies and international organisations active in this area. The objective of the group is to foster the exchange and dissemination of best practices between national authorities, and to encourage concrete discussions on how to fill existing gaps, and better prevent and combat hate crime and hate speech.
FRA will be a permanent representative of the Group and will coordinate a subgroup on methodologies for recording and collecting data on hate crime. FRA’s director will participate in the launch of the High Level Group, alongside Věra Jourová, EU Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, and Soraya Post (MEP), Co-President of the European Parliament Anti-Racism and Diversity Intergroup (ARDI).
