Lithuanian stakeholders discuss legal capacity reform

On 23 September in Vilnius, Lithuanian stakeholders will discuss the application of Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) on equal recognition before the law.

Organised by the Lithuanian Ministry of Justice, the seminar will explore the paradigm shift in approaches to legal capacity enshrined in the CRPD and how the move from substitute to supported decision making can be realised in practice. The Agency’s contribution will draw on the findings of its report on legal capacity of persons with mental health problems and persons with intellectual disabilities, which examines laws in the area of legal capacity in the EU Member States.
