FRA will take part in a rule of law workshop in Oxford on 4 March. The ‘Rule of law on trial: a conversation between academics and practitioners’ workshop will bring together academics and practitioners to address respect for the rule of law within EU Member States.
Discussions will be framed by current debates on the respect for the values listed in Article 2 of the Treaty European Union and whether the EU should be involved, and if it should, on what authority and through which procedures. The workshop is being organised by Oxford University, Middlesex University London and the University of Copenhagen. It aims to bridge the worlds of practice and academia in order to consider how best to protect and promote rule of law as a fundamental European value while at the same time respecting member states political autonomy.
