Towards a new strategy for people with disabilities

The FRA Director, Michael O’Flaherty, will speak at a hearing of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) about the Agency’s contribution to the promotion, protection and monitoring of the rights of people with disabilities in the EU.

He will speak as FRA Director and as Chair of the EU Framework for the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). The hearing will focus on a new strategy for people with disabilities in the EU based on the concluding observations by the UN CRPD Committee on the EU's first report on how it is implementing the CRPD. The CRPD is the first international human rights treaty ratified by the EU. The hearing will take place on 17 May in Brussels.
