FRA took part and intervened in the 8th meeting of the Ad hoc Committee of Experts for Roma Issues (CAHROM) organised by the Council of Europe.
The meeting, which took place in Sarajevo on 28-30 October, was attended by expert from Member States, the European Commission, international governmental organisations and NGOs with an observer status. During the meeting the situation of Roma in Europe and the recent policy developments at national and international level were discussed. FRA provided an update on the FRA-Member States Ad-hoc Working Party on Roma Integration Indicators, its Local Engagement for Roma Inclusion (LERI) project and plans for the next EU minorities and discrimination survey.
A number of Member State representatives and the Council of Europe expressed their interest in the progress of the Roma Working Party on the development of the right based indicators framework capturing both the process and the outcomes of Roma integration efforts and reflecting the standards set by the Council Recommendation for effective Roma integration measures in the Member States from December 2013.
