The Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination visited FRA today (4 March 2014) for an exchange of views on activities and priorities.
Morten Kjaerum, FRA Director, stressed the significant role FRA reports and data could play in informing the Committee’s work, notably the reports of the its Rapporteurs. He noted the ongoing exchange of information in relation to FRA research conducted in the areas of Roma, antisemitism and LGBT. FRA also pointed out the practical ways in which the FRA and the Council of Europe have worked jointly on Handbooks related to non-discrimination and asylum/migration and data protection.
FRA experts presented the Agency’s activities in the areas of non-discrimination and equality. Among the priorities identified by Committee members were interest in FRA data on the situation of the Roma in Europe, the socio-legal situation of LGBT persons and violence against women.
