European Parliament hearing discusses migrant rights in Greece

FRA spoke at a hearing at the European Parliament on 20 March in Brussels entitled ‘EU Migration Policy: A Push Back for Migrants’ Rights in Greece?’.

FRA spoke during the panel that focused on recommendations for how to tackle hate crime and developing promising practices on the basis of the Fundamental Rights Conference 2013 conclusions and the findings of the Thematic Situation Report on extremism and hate crime - case studies of Greece and Hungary. Overall, the event sought to facilitate constructive dialogue among EU institutions, human rights bodies, migrants’ rights organisations based in Greece and European NGOs to raise awareness of the challenges faced by migrants in Greece. It aimed to develop recommendations to improve the situation at EU level by addressing the links between EU policies and the situation in Greece and through using the tools and resources available at EU level.
