On 9 December in Brussels, FRA launched its ‘Being trans in the EU’ report during a session on transgender rights at the European Parliament.
The report reports in great detail how trans people in the EU experience frequent discrimination and victimisation, harassment and disrespect, drawing on the responses to FRA’s wider EU LGBT survey. It also provides further background to the conclusions from the conference ‘Tackling sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination’ which FRA organised with the Council Secretariat and Italian Presidency in October.
The Intergroup event was organised by the Parliament’s LGBTI Intergroup and included speakers from Transgender Europe, and Berlin’s Anti-Discrimination Office as well as representatives from the European Commission. During the event Transgender Europe launched its report on access to employment for transgender people.
