The visit was a chance for FRA to learn first-hand about the European Ombudsman’s priorities and some of the initiatives they are correctly working on. The FRA Director ad interim Constantinos Manolopoulos, as well as other senior staff then held wide-ranging discussions with the European Ombudsman on such issues as the use and relevance of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights at the national level and in the context of the EU’s cohesion funds, the monitoring framework for the UN’s Disability Convention, as well as issues related to the current migration and asylum situation.

The visit concluded with an open question and answer session with all staff.
