FRA took part in a panel discussion during the Open Society Foundation workshop on 26 and 27 November in Brussels on combating Islamophobia.
FRA talked about the role NGOs can play, the kind of information EU institutions need from civil society, and the opportunities for change and advocacy in the coming years. FRA also presented some of its data on minorities and discrimination. The workshop addressed around 40 civil society organisations from 10 Member States including youth organisations who are concerned with the political climate across Europe. Representatives of the European Commission and Parliament were also present. During the workshop participants had the opportunity to discuss specific aspects of Islamophobia and share their experience and work to combat Islamophobia in Europe.
