On 19-21 April, FRA carried out a local field visit to Brno in the Czech Republic to follow up on progress in implementing its Local Engagement for Roma Inclusion (LERI) project.
In particular, FRA joined the implementation of Registry week, an initiative to map families in a vulnerable housing situation across the city of Brno. The mapping was carried out by large group of interviewers (volunteers, employees of municipal administration, local NGOs) under the coordination of the local NGO, IQ Roma Servis. This activity is helping to test the new approach in social housing in Brno that is being used to change the social housing policy in the Czech Republic. The tested approach draws on experiences of the Housing First or Rapid Re-housing programmes that many EU countries are using to address the right to housing.
