The Agency took part in the Council of Europe’s Ad hoc Committee of Experts on Roma and Traveller Issues (CAHROM) thematic visit to Greece from 17 to 19 October.
The meeting was hosted by the Greek Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction and focused on the empowerment and participation of Roma and Travellers in advisory and decision making bodies, as well as in political life; there was a specific focus on Roma women and youth. The Agency introducing its Local Engagement for Roma Inclusion (LERI) project and how it was implemented in Megara, Greece, one of the 21 participating localities.
The presentation was of particular relevance, as it was given the day before the Greek Ministry of Interior organised a field visit to the Roma neighbourhood in Megara. The meeting brought together various stakeholders, including representatives of the Greek Ministries, local and regional authorities, local Roma NGOs and other civil society actors, as well as representatives from partner countries, international organisations and other CAHROM experts.
