Local stakeholders in Greece discuss Roma inclusion progress

On 19-20 April, FRA took part in a local field visit to Athens, Megara and Aghia Varvara, Greece to follow up on progress in implementing its Local Engagement for Roma Inclusion (LERI) project.

During the visit, FRA met with the Deputy Regional Governor of Western Attica, the Local Roma Association in Megara, and with local project fieldwork experts and collaborators in both Megara and Aghia Varvara, the two localities where the project is being carried out. Already preliminary findings gave identified some of the challenges and barriers to successfully implementing social inclusion measures, building trust and engaging with communities, overcoming intra-community tensions, and supporting Roma participation and empowerment.
