OSCE discusses the rights of people with disabilities

On 5 April, FRA took part in a meeting in Vienna of the OSCE’s Human Dimension Committee on the rights of people with disabilities.

The meeting was an opportunity to discuss further actions the OSCE can take to mainstream the rights of people with disabilities in its work. In particular, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) explored how to further integrate the rights of people with disabilities into its activities on participation and elections, taking note of the findings of FRA’s research and human rights indicators on the right to political participation of persons with disabilities. It included an address by the UN Special Rapporteur on the rights of people with disabilities, the US Special Advisor for International Disability Rights, as well as representatives of civil society.
