FRA introduced the legal and medical challenges in protecting the fundamental rights of children and presented the experiences of LGBTI people during childhood, drawing on the results of its LGBT survey. The session was more generally devoted to discussing how governments can take systematic action in improving the safety and equality of LGBTI children and young people. It also covered how to protect them from violence and bullying at home, in schools, in public and private services, on the internet, in sports and in public spaces. In addition, there were discussions on how to empower LGBTI young people.
