Collecting human rights data for Sustainable Development Goal indicators

On 5-6 September, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights held a consultation meeting in Geneva with selected national statistical institutes, national human rights institutions and international organisations to discuss the methodological details of collecting data for some of the Sustainable Development Goal indicators.

The Agency has contributed to the work of the OHCHR in this area by providing expert advice, in particular concerning the survey measurement of discrimination and harassment, which has been a key feature of many FRA surveys, including its EU LGBT survey, EU-MIDIS II and the survey on discrimination and hate crime against Jews. OHCHR will continue to involve FRA when developing the methodological guidance that it will prepare for member states when measuring the indicators, in addition to using FRA data to assess the situation in the EU based on the SDG indicator framework and OHCHR’s Human Rights-Based Approach to Data.
