Developing tools to assess the best interest of the child

The Agency is helping the European Asylum Support Office to develop a tool for Member States to assess the best interests of the child in the context of asylum.

The first meeting took placed in Malta on 26 and 27 October, and was also attended by several Member States, the European Commission, UNHCR and UNICEF. During the meeting, Member State exchanged experiences on best interests procedures and discussed how to develop a tool that is both useful and can be applied to different national contexts.
