Fundamental rights of non-removed irregular migrants

The Agency took part in a conference on undocumented lives organised in the European Parliament in Brussels on 29 March.

It sought to explore whether the current EU migration policy and suggested reform of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS) pushing people into irregularity. The Agency reminded participants that everyone has fundamental rights, regardless of their status. As a follow up to the event, the Agency compiled a note on the fundamental rights of non-removed people as a reminder of the evidence-based advice FRA has produced in the past. Other speakers included representatives from the European Commission, the Council of Europe, the UN’s Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and civil society organisations.
