Developing the Italian guardianship system for unaccompanied migrant and asylum-seeking children

On 9 February, the Agency took part in training for candidate guardians for unaccompanied migrant and asylum-seeking children in Italy’s Abruzzo region.

The Italian Ombudsperson for Children with the support of the European Asylum Support Office organised the training. The Agency was a resource person during the course and its handbook on guardianship for children deprived of parental care was distributed to candidate guardians. Other trainers included national authorities, UN bodies and several NGOs partners (Save the Children, Defence the Children International, Terre des Hommes).
