FRA briefs European Commission on its latest child rights work

The Agency gave an update on its child rights work during a European Commission Interservice Group Meeting in Brussels on 20 February which representatives from different Directorates-General attended. Specific attention was given to the follow-up of the 11th European Forum on the rights of the child in November 2017, that focused on children deprived of liberty.

There was also a focus on the Commission’s Communication on the protection of migrant children. Participants were particularly interested in the opinions on children and justice from the Agency’s upcoming minimum age report, especially in relation to children deprived of liberty and procedural safeguards for children suspected or accused of a crime.
