FRA surveillance report presented to Council working party on terrorism

At the invitation of the Bulgarian Presidency, the Agency presented the findings of the second volume of its report ‘Surveillance by intelligence services: fundamental rights safeguards and remedies in the EU’ to the Council Working Party on Terrorism on 19 January.

The report supplements an updated analysis of legislation governing surveillance by intelligence authorities in all 28 Member States with field-based insights gained from interviews with diverse experts in intelligence and related fields. The presentation in Brussels highlighted the key findings of the report related to legality, effective oversight and access to remedies.
