Human Rights Congress focuses on preventing and combating hate crime

On 13 December in Madrid, the agency took part in the fifth Congress of Human Rights of Spanish Lawyers, devoted to preventing and combating hate crime.

It was held in view of the increased attention being paid to hate crime by the Spanish legal profession and other sectors of society. FRA introduced the EU’s legal approaches to this issue, as well as its practical work regarding the collection of data on hate crime experiences by various groups and the provision of technical assistance to EU Member States in applying the key guiding principles on improving the recording of hate crime by law enforcement authorities
