Improving the skills of child protection staff in Greek hotspots

The Agency and EASO organised training on 20 and 21 February in Athens for child protection staff working in the Greek reception and identification centers.

The training follows the child protection training sessions carried out in the hotspots during December 2017 and January 2018. During this workshop, emphasis was put into the exchange of experiences between the reception and identification centers, allowing for the possibility to exchange different practices, challenges and solutions.

The topics discussed focused on those issues which were seen as most challenging during the previous training, such as networking and coordination, exchange of information and confidentiality issues, temporary scheme of transfer of unaccompanied children to the mainland, age assessment or identification of trafficking victims.

The final session enabled a discussion for possible follow-up actions.
