Lisbon workshop looks at hate crime recording

The Agency, together with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, facilitated a two-day workshop in Lisbon for law enforcement officers and officials responsible for hate crime registration.

The aim of the event was to raise awareness of the need to properly record hate crimes, to identify gaps in existing hate crime recording and data collection frameworks, and to discuss practical steps to improve these frameworks. Workshops in other Member States are planned for 2018, as one of the outcomes of the FRA-coordinated subgroup on methodologies on recording and collecting data on hate crime. The event ran from 13 to 14 March.
