The FRA Director’s presented the key findings of the Fundamental Rights Report 2018 at the Council of the EU on 12 June in Brussels.
He spoke to the Council’s Working Party on Fundamental Rights, Citizens Rights and Free Movement of Persons (FREMP). In his presentation he gave an overview of the Fundamental Rights situation in the EU.
The findings of the report show that the year 2017 has brought both progress and setbacks in terms of rights protection.
The focus section of this year’s report is dedicated to the situation of elderly people which is increasingly seen from a rights-based perspective.
The Member States representatives’ in the Council Working Group expressed their recognition for the report’s reliable data and its convincing structure providing a snapshot of the human rights situation within the EU and its Member States.
