Seminar looks at how legislators can help stop hate online

An inter-parliamentary seminar on Stopping hate on the internet: The role of legislators in the age of internet superpower took place in Bratislava on 21 June.

The Agency’s presentation centred on how a rights-based approach to tackling online hatred could be translated into a practical action plan covering six areas: understanding; monitoring; reporting and recording; prosecuting; supporting victims; and educating against online hatred.

The seminar was jointly organised by the National Council of the Slovak Republic and the Israeli parliament (Knesset), with support from the Israel embassy in Bratislava. It brought together MPs, senators and ambassadors from several Member States and Israel.
